The history of the Piccini family began in 1882, among the hills of Chianti. Here, young Angiolo, heir to a family of merchants, pursued his dream by founding a small winery in the heart of Tuscany. From this patch of land, Angiolo and his descendants have carried the Piccini name to every corner of the world, helping to write the history of Tuscan wine. From generation to generation, the winery has continued to look to the future with courage and ambition.
Over time, the family has strategically invested in different areas of the region, from the renowned Chianti Classico to the emerging territories of the Maremma and the Tuscan coast. It is here that we grow our Prosae, an organic wine produced without the addition of sulfites. Its grapes come from our vineyards overlooking the Gulf of Follonica, where native varieties have thrived for centuries, in perfect harmony with the particular climatic conditions of the area.
However, the Tuscan coast represents above all the cradle of the Costa Toscana IGT appellation. Grapes grown along the coast benefit from the refreshing influence of sea breezes and the prolonged sun exposure typical of Tuscan summers. As a result, the resulting wines are distinguished by their distinct freshness and fruity flavor profile.
These lands are also home to the birth of our Histrio, a Toscana IGT wine vinified in amphora-a traditional production method that allows the wine to oxygenate without acquiring tertiary aromas. This balance allows our wines to maintain exceptional freshness and extraordinary stability over time.
Since 1882, Piccini has proudly guarded its Tuscan heritage while expanding its presence throughout Italy. In 2011, Mario Piccini, president of the group, launched a new line dedicated to his homeland: Memoro. Created to mark the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, Memoro, which means “memory,” pays homage to our Latin roots through one of Italy’s greatest treasures: wine. Combining the best grapes from four Italian regions, this label celebrates the unity of our country with the goal of creating the best blend of the Bel Paese.
From this vision comes Memoro Bianco, an Italian cuvée in which delicate notes of white and yellow fruit mingle with lively tropical hints. The sip is fresh and crystal clear, with a brilliant concentration of fruit, dominated by pear, leading to a delicious finish. The journey continues with our Memoro Rosato, which encapsulates the soul of the four regions of Italy. The result is a classic Italian rosé with a full, crisp taste. The aroma is immediately seductive, with hints of raspberry, red currant and a hint of mint. These fruity notes are also found on the palate, with bursts of cherry and nuances of strawberry and raspberry.
