THE PICCINI 1882 GROUP LANDS IN THE LANDS OF PROSECCO, ACQUIRING 60 PERCENT OF VINICOLA CIDE SRL, A COMPANY IN THE PROVINCE OF TREVISO THAT HAS MORE THAN 40 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN BUYING, PROCESSING, AND BOTTLING BUBBLY.
“We are the Italian wine family,” says Mario Piccini, patron of Piccini 1882, “and our presence in the Prosecco area was a project that had been cradled for some time, given the great popularity of bubbles in this corner of Veneto. We look forward to embarking on this new challenge.”
Castellina in Chianti, Sept. 23, 2022 – Piccini 1882 scores a new and important milestone. After having archived 2021 in growth, thanks to a turnover of about 100 million euros, and having opened 2022 with the acquisition of the Piedmontese brand “Porta Rossa,” the Group lands in the lands of Prosecco. Here, Piccini 1882 signed a binding commitment aimed at further developing its product portfolio, increasingly under the banner of “made in Italy.” In fact, on September 23, 2022, the Wine Group announced the acquisition of 60 percent of the share capital of the company “Vinicola CIDE srl” of Mareno di Piave, in the province of Treviso.
“This new project,” explains Mario Piccini, “moves from the ambition to be present in an area that enjoys a unique popularity and distribution. As an Italian wine family, which has always been moved by the desire to tell the story of our country’s wine excellence, we could not fail to seize this great opportunity. In order to maintain and strengthen the network of collaboration with local producers, our entry into the Prosecco reality will be gradual and marked by maximum respect for the pre-existing balances. At a later stage, we will proceed both to evaluate possible investments in the vineyard and to identify the most suitable areas on which to focus our work.”
The remaining 40 percent of the shares will remain in the hands of the Dall’Armellina family, which is already present in the area and has a deep knowledge of the local reality. Under the agreement, Mario Piccini will take over as CEO, while the Dall’Armellina family will continue to sit on the board of directors.
“We are extremely pleased with the new acquisition,” adds Mario Piccini, “and we look forward to embarking on a path of joint growth that aims to enhance and promote one of the greatest wine excellences of Bel Paese: the lands of Prosecco.”
As Mario Piccini’s words remind us, the marriage with CIDE Winery was born under very good auspices. In fact, the Venetian reality boasts forty years of experience in the acquisition, processing and bottling of Prosecco; not to mention the significant volume of sales, which, in the span of 2021, touched the figure of 22 million euros. A special mention, finally, for the pioneering bottling plant at the Veneto winery, designed to excel in functionality, economy and efficiency.
Piccini 1882’s partnership with CIDE Winery is not limited to national borders, but goes beyond the Alps and involves Germany as well. Here, Piccini 1882 acquired 70 percent of the share capital of Vinicola CIDE GmbH, committing in the following months to proceed with the acquisition of the remaining shares. With this move, the Wine Group secures tighter control over product distribution and a more extensive presence in the German market. In the administrative cadres of the German company, Robin Rommen will remain as CEO and Ulrike Backhaus-Müller will retain her role as Managing Partner of Vinicola Cide GmbH.
The new acquisition enriches Piccini 1882’s already extensive wine offerings, which range from the Alps to Sicily, counting the most iconic appellations of wine Italy: from the Langhe to Chianti Classico, via Maremma and Montalcino, to the volcanic territories of Vulture and Etna.
