Piccini 1882

The word from the winemakers

GRAPE GROWERS

To capture the essence of Italy’s diverse wine scene, Piccini 1882 introduces “Grape Growers Projects”, an exclusive collection of collaboration projects. The new brand was curated to include various regions where the fifth generation of the Piccini family chose to invest, forming close partnerships with local partners.

Through careful assessment, we’ve identified top collaborators in each area, fostering productive relationships with local winegrowers. To maintain top quality, our team of winemakers collaborates closely with all project stakeholders, offering guidance in both agronomic and oenological aspects. “Grape Growers Projects” revolves around showcasing terroir and preserving local wine culture, emphasizing the selection of emblematic grape varieties to spread the wine excellence unique to each territory.

Our wine route begins in the rolling hills of the Langhe, home to Porta Rossa, a historic Piedmontese brand in the kingdom of Barolo. Col Talmasso originates from Friulian landscapes, embodying craftsmanship passed down through generations. Lastly, completing our offerings, Donna Gloria represents our line of wines crafted in the heart of Prosecco, a collaboration with Dall’Armellina family.

The House of Barolo.

Amid the rolling hills of Piedmont, in the heart of the Langhe, stands the historic Porta Rossa winery — a name that echoes tradition, elegance, and a deep bond with its land. Nestled in Diano d’Alba, the estate is housed in an ancient noble residence, easily recognized by its iconic red door that has become a symbol of welcome and excellence.
Over the centuries, many illustrious guests have crossed its threshold, including none other than the first King of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II. The sovereign often retreated to the Langhe, and legend has it that he would frequently pass through the red door to enjoy the pleasures of fine food and, above all, great wine.
Since 2022, Porta Rossa has joined the Piccini 1882 family, becoming part of our network of partner wineries. At the center of this collaboration stands the winery’s jewel: Barolo, the “King of Wines,” an emblem of character, structure, and timeless nobility — just like the land from which it comes.

The echo of Bolgheri

“Poggio Roveto” ventures into the uncharted territories of Tuscan wine, specifically the Bolgheri region.

Here, Cabernet Sauvignon has established its preferred place, yielding wines that captivate enthusiasts with their velvety texture and enduring character, enlivened by a brilliant acidity. The overall profile is harmonious and clear, solidifying Bolgheri’s standing as one of the most promising cradles for the future of Italian wine. The “Poggio Roveto” lineup is complemented by the aromatic freshness of Vermentino Toscana IGT, a wine that encapsulates the heritage of the Maremma.

Excellence of Friuli

Immersed in the evocative hills of Friuli, Col Talmasso shows the authentic soul of the region, enhancing the richness of the terroir and the ancient craftsmanship passed down through generations. Enveloped by the embrace of the Alps and the sea, our vineyards flourish, giving rise to some of Italy’s most renowned white wines. The vine, an enduring protagonist throughout ancient times, has achieved pinnacle excellence in these lands, resulting in wines that exude elegance and refinement. Col Talmasso’s wine collection encompasses the quintessential expressions of Friulian winemaking, featuring varietals ranging from Sauvignon to Chardonnay, and not forgetting the famous Ribolla Gialla.

The land of Prosecco

Oenological precision and deep respect for the territory: these are the pillars that guide the philosophy behind Donna Gloria, a project born from the collaboration between Piccini 1882 and a historic winery in Mareno di Piave, in the heart of Veneto’s winemaking tradition.

This line was created with a clear intent: to enhance the extraordinary richness of the Veneto region through wines that are not only technically impeccable, but also intimately connected to their land of origin. Every stage of production is meticulously overseen by our team of oenologists, ensuring a final product that faithfully expresses the identity and nuances of its terroir.

The undisputed protagonist of Donna Gloria is Prosecco, the sparkling wine that has conquered Italian hearts and international markets alike. Its unmistakable freshness and elegance are the fruit of a land shaped by contrasts: from the shadow of the Dolomites to the breeze of the Adriatic, where rolling hills and fertile plains blend into a landscape of rare beauty. It is here, in this mosaic of nature, that the grapes of Donna Gloria draw their character, to celebrate, with every glass, the soul of Veneto.
